The view is right out of “The Love Boat.” I wish I could say that the food was as good as the view. I ordered the fish of the day. It was Halibut. It had sautéed vegetables on top. I learned quickly that this was to cover up the over cooked fish. It was like tuna out of the can. I started with the Caprese, it was descent and for the desert I had the crème brulee. This was very traditional and delicious. The desert saved the day.

A little taste of Belgium. I found this restaurant hidden underground in Laguna Beach. It reminded me of my time spent in Belgium. I lived in Antwerp, not Brussels, which is so much better. Brussels is full of tourist and Antwerp is not. That should tell you everything.

The first image that grabs you when dining at the Bistro is that it is underground. My favorite places in Belgium were underground. Then the next attention getter is the beer. Belgium has the best beer in the world. You don’t have to take my word for it. There are over fifteen hundred beers brewed in Belgium and it is a country the size of Rhode Island. The monks make the best beers. My favorite is Leffe. It is a religious experience in a bottle. All Belgium beer comes in its own glass and Leffe is poured into a glass shaped like the Holy Grail. It doesn’t get much better than that.

I started my evening with the hamburger and Belgium fries. It is to die for. I believe the success of a hamburger first comes with the bread and then the meat. The bread and ground beef on this hamburger was amazing. It also has caramelized endives which add a little sweat bitterness to the burger. The Belgium fries make the dish. Belgium fries are served with mayonnaise. There is no better way to eat fries than with homemade mayonnaise. I topped off the dinner with a few bottles of Leffe Blonde. This is that kind of food that they say “Sticks to your ribs.” It will definitely put a big smile on your face. I opted out for desert because Belgians are also known for there muscles. No not Sean Claude Van Damm but the seafood. They steam them in a white wine sauce and it is better than desert. Wow, I was full but soooo happy.

I recommend this restaurant if you are looking for a great Belgian experience.

We started the early evening sitting in the main dinning room. The last visit we dined on the balcony overlooking the ocean. I started the dinner with a glass of the house Chianti and ordered the Linguine de fruitt a mare. It was a mix of shellfish and the catch of the day in a garlic red sauce on linguine pasta. Before the entrée, we split a ceasar. It was on a parmesan crusted bowl. The sauce was of course very rich. It was so good I almost licked the bowl. I have had their beef but it wasn’t as delicious as their seafood.

The waitress was very nice and gave us a lot of attention, until her section filled up and then we lost her. They seemed a bit under staffed that night. When we asked for the check she brought it to us with an after dinner drink on the house. The drink was a little amaretto and cognac with wiping cream. It satisfied my sweat tooth and left me happy

I recommend this restaurant. From the atmosphere to the decor, it will stimulate you in every way.

We started the dinner off with a bottle of an Italian merit age. It was medium bodied, with a taste of spice and tobacco. I ordered the seared ahi for dinner, starting with a ceaser salad. The ahi was cooked perfectly and it was covered in seasame. The sauce was a medley of onions, garlic and tomatoes. The side looked and tasted like cornbread but I wasn’t sure what it was and I forgot to ask the waiter.

I have dined here a few times and it has always been a very satisfying meal. I would recommend it if you are looking for something not to fancy and not to expensive. The atmosphere is very cute and they have a local musician who plays frequently. He is a red head from Chicago. He plays some very interesting instruments and is very entertaining.

I recommend this restaurant!

Ruth’s Chris started in New Orleans, Louisiana in the 70’s. It immediately became the hot spot for steaks. Cooking their steaks at 1800 degrees, using the simplest of spices, the taste will blow your mind. It doesn’t get any better than this.

I have visited this restaurant since I was a child. My father worked at the Colonial bank when he was young and he help Ruth with one of her first bank loans for the restaurant. All of my life, when I think of steak, I think of Ruth’s Chris.

It has been a treat to have Ruth’s Chris in California. The last visit to the Irvine location I started with a bottle of the Antinori Villa Toscana. Our waiter Chris described it as fruit forward with a long smooth finish. He was correct. Not to heavy but enough to stand up to the lamb chops I ordered. It was cooked to Ruth’s Chris perfection. There is something so mouth watering when you here the steaks sizzling to your table. Everything comes a la cart, so we ordered a Cesar salad and potatoes au gratin. Very cheesing potatoes but delicious. There isn’t much more to say about this meal but that I seriously can’t wait to go back. I think I will take down the porterhouse for two next time! I will make sure to pack an artery.

Every time I visit Ruth’s Chris, the specials are seafood and as much as I love seafood, I just can’t see myself ordering seafood at Ruth’s Chris but I think I need to try it next time just in case I am missing something

I love this restaurant and it is the best steak money can buy!

This is definitely casual dinning with a rose. Everything is different. Different plates, different table cloths, different chairs and everything comes with a story. You are greeted with a gift and some delicious pate’. The waiter offers one menu but divides it among guests.

The owners are originally from Belgium, so the food has a Belgian influence. Which means everything is rich. Belgians like to indulge and you will learn this quickly when you drink their beer. The specialties are presented with the menu as well. I would recommend the beef over the seafood because they will over cook the meat. I had the seabass in a lemon mango sauce. Their sauces are big and bold. They have excellent sides and deserts. You must have the strawberry wip creme pie. Yes, to die for!

I have dined at Dizz’s a few times and what I like the most is the atmosphere. I liked it so much, I designed my wedding around the Vintage Hollywood theme of this restaurant.

I highly recommend this restaurant. It is a classic Laguna landmark!

Partners Bistro is a favorite place of mine. It isn’t far from my home in Laguna Beach. I am originally from New Orleans and Partners is a little taste of the French Quarter for me. The band that frequents this restaurant plays a lot of jazz and blues. The trumpet player is from Shreveport, LA. Close enough! There is also a little alley way to the left of the restaurant and it has an ole French Quarter feel, or for those who have not made it to New Orleans, a European feel. Located in the alley is a Gelato and Chocolate store to satisfy your sweet tooth.

The only negative mark I have for Partners Bistro is the wine list. The wine list is average because there isn’t a great variety; mostly big California wines.

Tracy and I usually start off dinner with their famous Alaine’s salad. This isn’t much of a salad if you are expecting lettuce. It is made with a variety of cherry tomatoes and shrimp topped with cilantro and a wonderful sour cream sauce. We have been trying to crack the secret recipe on this one for months. For the main course I would recommend, if they are serving it, is the buffalo fillet. It is very rich and juicy.

All in all Partners Bistro is the jack of all trades. From the atmosphere to the deserts, you may not find yourself saying, “this is the most succulent halibut I have ever tasted” but you will leave saying, “that really hit the spot.” Where Partners stands out among the rest is with consistency. There is something special in consistency and Partners has been very consistent since we began dining here over two years ago. Don’t be afraid to try it all but if you want something better than usual, stick to their specialties. Like the homemade shredded pasta, shrimp or the lamb.

Our waitress Emily usually serves us and she is a lot of fun. So ask for Emily and tell her we sent you.

I give this restaurant, “A job well done.” You will love it!

Great location, only a few yards from i-405 and you have the option of valet or self parking in the garage. The elevator takes you from the garage directly into the lobby of the restaurant. Very classy interior. Kitchen is open and restaurant is spacious. White and copper colors create this yacht club feel.

We started the dinner ordering a bottle of a zinfandel, Amador County California, from the waiter who was very well trained and polite. He recommended the Sea Bass saying, “Everyone orders it.” I went for the salmon and it was cooked to my liking of medium rare. Fish was very moist and it sat on a bed of mash potatoes, in a crab sauce with a little cream. I devoured everything and wanted more. It was one of those meals when after the first bite you want to ask the waiter for a shovel so you can finish it off.

Tracy ordered the fillet and it was about an inch and a half thick. It was cooked well for a seafood restaurant. Her green beans and mashed potatoes made the dish. The Zin went more with here meal than mine. We finished the evening with their cheesecake, topped with a variety of berries. The desert was parried with a Bonny Doon desert wine. Very fruity and it went well with the cheesecake.

I highly recommend this restaurant!
